JOB TITLE:

FOREMAN/SUPERVISOR 

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Reports to: General Manager/Superintendent

Effective Date: Sept 15, 2016

Essential Duties and Responsibilities consist of supervising the following, but are not be limited to:

  • Completing ALL Paperwork in a timely manner

  • Ensure that ALL Piedmonts policies and procedures are followed daily

  • Perform Safety Checks

  • Treat our customers with respect at ALL times

  • Keep your Truck clean and serviced

  • Work as needed

  • Pick up/order job materials as needed

  • Work Safe and Take Responsibility for your actions

    • Follow ALL Excavation guidelines ​​
  • Grease, check fluids, clean and perform minor maintenance
  • Don't scratch or damage the equipment
    • Report Damage Promptly​
  • Excavate and back fill trenches for;
    • Water​​​
    • Storm
    • Sewer
    • Conduits
  • Perform/Instruct employees to do the following tasks with equipment or by hand;
    • Grade trenches or culverts by hand or with equipment

    • Listen to hand signals from ground crew

    • Position pipe and seal joints

    • Check slopes and grades using lasers, builders levels and levels

    • Cut pipe to required lengths by way of chop saws/hand saws

    • Install or repair sanitary sewer or storm water structures

    • Grout pipes

    • Raise boxes and manholes to grade

    • Install or use pipe lasers, grade rods and transit levels

    • Dig trenches as required by hand or other trenching tools

    • Locate existing utilities with shovels and equipment

    • Tap holes in manholes and other pipes as necessary for service connections

    • Hand tighten to specified tension mechanical joint fittings

    • Mix concrete and pour thrust blocks by hand

    • Use compression fittings for water services

    • Install meter boxes

    • Install fire hydrants

    • Glue fittings

  • Take pride and workmanship in ALL that you do

  • Show professionalism in ALL things

  • Keep job site clean

  • Pick up trash

  • Any and all duties directed by General Manger/Superintendent

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:

No Computer skills needed.  

Certificates and Licenses: 

No certifications needed

Supervisory Responsibilities

Oversees all aspects of jobsite including team members including Laborers, Pipe Layers and Equipment Operators
